Isaiah Washington Changing His Tune: 'They Fired the Wrong Guy'

Though Isaiah Washington has said he’s “not angry” about being fired from “Grey’s Anatomy,” he’s now claiming now ABC made a mistake.

“They fired the wrong guy,” Isaiah told his hometown paper, The Houston Chronicle. "I have to clear my name. I'll start from the beginning. I'm telling everything."

Isaiah, 43, came under fire last fall when he reportedly got into a fight with co-star Patrick Dempsey and used a gay slur against his co-star T.R. Knight.

But now he’s saying that the incident isn’t what people think.

"That's a lie," Isaiah said. "I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick. I apologized for that. We shook hands and went back to work."

T.R. Knight told Ellen DeGeneres on her show that hearing the slur made him decide to publicly announce he’s gay.

But Isaiah said that he shouldn’t be held responsible for that.

"My livelihood, my honor and dignity and my name have been so challenged," he said. "I was not fired for making homophobic slurs. I did everything I said I would do. I offered to go to counseling, to do a public service announcement. I wanted everyone to know I was remorseful."

Isaiah Washington is a Great, and very talented actor on the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy” its a shame to loose such an important character. It really wont be the same without him, even if the do hire a new guy. Everyone makes mistakes, without them we wouldn’t learn anything!! I think hey this was only one incident!! Give him his job back; then if he looses his temper again then he knew the conceqences. Everyone should be given 2nd chances no matter how bad the mistake. Rehire him!! and all u people giving him a bad rap, how do u kno for sure if hes really lieing? ur not him, u wanst there, let the people that actually exspirenced it be the judge! Maybe if u had been there u’d of got mad too….. Dont judge a book by its cover..

Now he’s crying racism. The man is a self-absorbed moron. That’s right, keep talking genius so the story NEVER dies. A boring story I might add. But if that’s all the publicity the guy can get… Here’s a newsflash Isaiah… your co-workers were probably afraid of what I’ll bet was uncontrollable rage and anger on your part, not because you’re black. But keep fanning the flames the racism if it makes YOU feel better, because that’s all that matters, right? The TV viewers who dislike you, dislike you because you appear to be a self-absorbed, complaining bigot. We don’t give a damn what color you are.

Ughhhhhhh, who’s the racist?? We will always have racism because of people like him, who can’t say they messed up and take the responsibility of their own ignorance. He brings it upon himself and he gets what he deserves. People don’t care about skin color any more. As long as we keep singling out a race, we will always have racism. No more months for culture, it should all be every month, and everyone should just celebrate love, health and happiness. Isn’t that what life should be about? Who cares about color? Just get over it and stop playing the old racist card, we’re sick of hearing it!!!!!

Isaiah Washington dug is own grave. First of all he denied ever saying it. Everyone was forgiving until he annouced he didn’t call TR a “F” on national TV while his castmates were excepting an award. On Ellen TR said he could of over looked it but he decided it was time for him to go public. He did not blame Isaiah for coming out. All he said is that Isaiah called him a “F”. He wouldn’t even comment on what Isaiah said at the awards. Lastly, there has been racism against blacks since the beginning of the United States and it is still prevalent. Prejudice is not cured with rehab and TV adds.

Audiences will tolerate actors if they’re idiots, but not if they’re idiots AND jerks. The guy just can’t learn to keep his mouth shut can he? I say good riddance and ABC should have done it sooner.

Isaiah Washington was indeed one of the true stars of Grey’s Antamony. Patrick is only important because of Ellen’s character. Grey’s won’t be the same and no one can replace a main character like Dr. Burke (Isaiah Washington). So, I hope they reconsider hiring Isaiah Washington. TR Knight dosen’t have an important role why is he back? It seems that at the end or the finale the writer’s were thinking about both of the character maybe not returning. So why would they allow one of the best actors on the show go and keep the least talented actor? There is something wrong with that picture isn’t it?!!!!!!!!! Bring Isaiah Back
What is Shonda Rhime’s saying about her characters? She is a great writer does she have any voice in the matter or is this too her chose, to let him go. Shonda has brought to television the best show that televison has ever had and the ratings prove that. Bring back Isaiah!!!!!!! Shonda needs to stand up for Isaiah and rehire him.

I think folks this goes a little deeper than a comment Mr. Washington made. I think if you folks pay attention to the rest of Mr. Washington’s issues, you would find that he has a major anger problem. Not only did he use inappropriate slurs on the set against his co-worker he also put his hands around Patrick Dempsey’s throat in his “little confrontation”, and he’s had other problems with his anger in the past on other sets.

I’m sure if anyone of you had your co-worker lay a hand on you, I bet you would have much more to say than Mr. Dempsey or T.R. had to say to or about Mr. Washington. Personally I’m glad to see the man go!!!!!! I truly hope he now can seek help and figure out his personal anger issues before he hurts someone, he is a good actor and was an asset to Grey’s, but I think anyone would gave a problem working comfortably with him.

It seems like the only time a ‘controversy’ is permiitted stoking is when it’s in using the”N” word. I’ll bet Isaiah wouldn’t mind the belaboring of the issue, then. EVERYONE has to either, NOT use offensive words, OR - GROW UP AND LET THE WORDS ROLL OFF OF YOU! It, however, CANNOT go both ways as to the convenience of the perp.

I didn’t even watch the show. But good grief. Here we have grown adults calling each other names and they lose their jobs, careers etc?? Political correctness has gone nuts in this country and now it has a far more serius target and that is freedom of speech.

Adults beat their kids and call it “discipline” yet one adult can slap another across the face and assault charges are filed with huge lawsuits. They all need to grow up and see REAL abuse when it DOES happen to children and stop looking for trouble with grown adults when they err and say something stupid that they shouldn’t have said.

He said he was sorry then offered to do counciling etc. I wouldn’t have offered to go to one head doctor. Even head doctors lose their cool and say stupid things. No one is perfect and this has gotten rediculous. No one made Tk come out and say he was Gay. yet another excuse to pass the blame and not act like an adult. Give us all a break. He still has his job and got a lot of free press from this stupid mess. Looks like he owe a big thanks to Isaiah for losing his cool. Pfffffft.

In is statement he said it happened during an argument with Patrick. During an awards show he was backstage with the rest of the cast after winning an award and grabbed the microphone and said that it never happened! I don’t watch Grey’s, but I have heard all about this and I don’t believe he thinks he did anything wrong.
I believe there must be other reasons involving this to cause him to be let go from the show. Isaiah Washington is not helping himself by making this kind of statement.

And what would his reaction be if someone on the set had made a racial slur? Freedom of speech does not come without a price. He chose to make a grossly inappropriate remark, and now needs to accept the consequence for it. I still say had it been a racial slur he would have been up in arms demanding the person get fired. Learn from it, grow from it and move on. Do not continue to show ignorance by blaming someone else for your own errors in judgement. I applaud ABC for standing on some principles and finally holding people accountable for their actions. I will continue to watch the show and if Mr. Washington continues to behave in such a manner I will just elect not to watch anything he is in. My choice.
