Gay Activist Petitions to Bring Isaiah Washington Back

Ex-"Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington, who used homophobic slurs against co-star T.R. Knight and got axed from the show, is finding support from an unlikely source.

A prominent lesbian and gay activist is circulating an online petition to ABC in an effort to get Washington his job back.

The petition states that axing Washington "further adds to a disturbing new trend at ABC wherein minority actors have been dismissed at an alarming rate over the past two years. Blacks, including...Star Jones ('The View'), Harold Perrineau ('Lost'), Alfre Woodard, Mehcad Brooks and Page Kennedy ('Desperate Housewives') have been let go...One must ask themselves, what is going on?"

Washington came under fire last fall when he slurred Knight on the set, and used the word again at the Golden Globes.

He later apologized, entered rehab and met with gay leaders.

While the petition doesn't approve of using the f-word, it says Isaiah Washington didn't deserve to lose his job over this incident. A rally outside the Burbank office of ABC is in the works.

TR knight is a wuss. people deal with bad work enviroments, he says one thing and gets FIRED? im gay and i see a problem with this. you end his career cause he said ONE THING? and send him to REHAB? cause he said something socially taboo? doesnt that in itself seem wrong? its like brainwashing.

Face it…the guy ran off at the mouth and now he has to eat his words. No one should hire him unless it’s to serve food in a prison in Africa!

I FEEL LIKE ABC MIS LED ISAIAH WASHINGTON. THEY LED HIM TO BELIEVE THAT IF HE WENT OUT AND MADE AMENDS HE WOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP HIS JOB. I THINK THAT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WATCH GREY’S ANATOMY SHOULD SEND A MESSAGE TO ABC AND NOT WATCH “GA”.
P.S: THIS WHOLE CRAPPY STORYLINE W/ IZZIE AND GEORGE IS A JOKE.
I WILL NOT BE WATCHING ANYMORE

Isaiah Washington was my McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy. From the first day, I thought that he was such a handsome chocolate brown man. I watched the show and got excited just to see a Black man in a positive role and not playing a thug or ganster. Grey’s Anatomy will no longer be my special show of choice. abc made a mistake in firing Isaiah Washington.

ABC sucks. I stopped watching GA before the season ending when all this crap about Isaiah got out of hand.

I hope everyone takes a stand and boycott the show. See how the executives at ABC would like that.

Cant people express their opinion anymore. The way he said it was wrong, he apologized move the hell on.

I agree, Isaiah shouldn’t have been fired! I can’t believe that program fired someone for making a mistake. Can you believe the people who fired him what they have said in their life time. Think about it. No one is an angel ok. Give the man his job back. Are give it to me. You have my email address. I forgot to tell you. I’m black.

We the people do not want Rosie O’Donnell to host the Price Is Right show. Many people will stop watching it if she host the show. Don’t do it. It’s a family show. And she’s not the right person for the show.

The stance that ABC took by firing Mr. I. Washington was rather extreme. Words can be hurtful, but he apologized and took positive steps to improve himself just as ABC had asked. It is like he was stabbed in the back by ABC.
Does ABC want us to be extreme and we fire them from our homes by not watching?????

I think Grey’s Anatomy should bring Isaiah back. He did everything they asked him to do. If they were not going to forgive him then they should have dismisseed him when the incident occured. I won’t be watching without Burke and Addison there is no show. I am tired of meriedith, and derick story line. And Issy and George is just a joke.

What is going on in the world these days where a good Actor gets fired for what another actor practices in his bedroom. Only in America can all this rubbish happen. Would TR Knightly have been fired if the reverse had been the case.
Since Isiah’s departure, myself and friends no longer watch the show. Why else……….for McDreamy, maybe but it is one show I can do without.

I am a gay male, and I believe everyone deserves to be excused. It was a hard lesson, and I truely believe that he paid for his mistake by admitting fault, going to rehab, and appologizing. He taught many people that this behavior is inexcusable. He learned his leasson, don’t press the issue.
But in another perspective, this door may have closed, but I am sure another door will open for him.

I forgive him, as should Televsion networks

My sister and I are (oops) were loyal viewers of “Grey’s Anatomy” but NOT any more. We will NOT be watching next seasons Episodes of G.A. after ABC decided to fire Isaiah Washington. We feel it was a huge mistake. He admitted his fault and Apologize for what he said. How is he any different from the other Actor/Actress that have said things in public that was not appropriate. How are they still in the business. Explain that.

I agree, Isaiah should not have been fired! I’m tried of all p/c crap that results that allows the networks discriminate against minorities and women..Give me a BREAK! He without sin cast the first stone! We all make mistakes, and when a person steps up and does the right thing after a blunder, we should as a society lift them up and encourage them to keep on doing better..Firing a person send that message that no matter what you do in life you will never be forgiven and that is just not right!

ABC you need to look at yourselves you have made a great deal of errors, just think what your station would be like if all the viewers decided that because of past mistakes WE no longer wanted to watch… You would be out of business…DO the right thing and give him his job back! Remember the Bible says to forgive..Show some class and do just that!

I loved Greys Anatomy but what does the man have to do, people make mistakes, Americans are wonderful because they understand and realize celebs are humans too. He did a television Ad , what else is he supposed to do. I have great respect for him and not for the people that made the decision to let him go. I dont think I want to watch the show anymore if he isnt there. Also why do they keep changing things, they think they are making the show better but the more they break it apart, its falling apart!

I will no longer watch Grey A. Washington should not have said what he said, but we all say things we regret when we are upset. Let it go!!!! He apologized and did what was asked of him. I do not care what side of the fence your on, but come on, you cannot say anything about gays without it being blown up!!!, but yet some gays do not respect the rest of us, trying too hard to push their lifestyles on the rest of us. I would not get all hot and bothered with my husband in public or act inappropriate, but yet my family and I have to watch women making out in a public place without saying anything to them b/c I will have the whole gay community on my back!!!!! Please, enough already!!!!!!!
