Sanjaya Voted Off 'Idol,' Judges Breathe Sigh of Relief

It was an emotional night for “American Idol’s” seventh runner-up Wednesday, as Sanjaya tearfully left the competition.

The morning after the big reveal, “Extra” got judges Randy and Simon on Sanjaya’s swan song.

“I think the joke’s run out,” Simon said.

While Sanjaya is out of the competition, his fans are still speaking out. On Thursday, our very own Terri Seymour sent the “San-Fans’” messages to Randy Jackson.

“It's time to really pay attention and pick your next ‘American Idol,’” Randy responded.

Speaking of picking an “American Idol,” LaKisha hit the TV circuit Thursday, revealing what you didn’t hear during Sanjaya’s heart wrenching goodbye.

“He was saying, ‘I love you, I love you,’ and I was like, ‘I know, pull it together and sing your heart out,'" LaKisha confessed.

But don’t cry for Sanjaya just yet; the women of “The View” predict his future is “Rosie!”

“I'll bet he's going to have his own shown on Nickelodeon,” Rosie said. “He's got that Farrah Fawcett smile; it works for him.”

As for the king of Sanjaya pandemonium, Howard Stern, he’s not ready to give up his fight just yet, as his fiancé, and “Extra” correspondent, Beth Ostrosky, revealed.

“I think Howard’s going to demand a recount, and he wants an investigation to take place,” she joked.

Now that it’s down to the spectacular six, Simon and Randy are making their picks just for “Extra.”

“Top three at this stage? Jordin, Melinda, Blake,” Simon dished.

The Dawg feels the same exact way: “I think it’s really down to Blake, Melinda and Jordin.”

Check back for more on Sanjaya’s oust Friday, as we sit down for an “Extra” exclusive with the San-Man and present him with an extraordinary surprise!

I think Sanjaya is terrific. He’s handsome, sweet and charmed us week after week. He stand out from the crowd; he has the ‘shine.’ His voice is warm and melodious, and I enjoyed each and every performance. What a wonderful presence he has, and a smile to light up a room. I wish you everything wonderful, Sanjaya. And so does J-Lo, Kelly Clarkson, Regis, Clay Aiken, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross and many thousands more. You are going to be a huge star!

Sanjaya is only “seventeen,” and didn’t deserve the condemnation he’s received by the public or by Simon cruelly stating that “the joke’s run out!”

Sad society we live in when there’s such cruelty towards a young teen!

Regardless if he outlasted better singers, BLAME the producers for his longevity. The producers KNOW if they create controversy, they’ll keep the viewers interest.

They have played this game since A.I. first aired; eliminating potential talent early on.

It’s all about the ratings!

Heck if Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson, Aaron Carter, CIara, Janet Jackson, Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan can get record deals, SO CAN SANJAYA and he is BETTER SINGER THAN ALL OF THEM!!! They have sold MILLIONS OF CD’s and SOLD OUT CONCERTS and neither of them can sing LIVE very well but are all entertaining!! He is the new age Donny Osmond. I have downloaded all his mp3’s and he sounds OUTSTANDING espeically besomo mucho.

I just hope that Sanjaya truly appreciates the great experience he had on American Idol. He won out over thousands of other “singers” and deserves all of our best wishes for the future.

I am sorry Sanjaya but no the truth shall sat you free, there are much better singers on that show and it’s about how good you are as an artist, not how many people like you or your hair, nor the color of ones skin but how good you can sing,I am not saying that you can’t sing but there are some people on that show that can blow. I have been sining since I was eight years old. and I know what I’m talking about. Simon have a ear for music and we can not take that away from him. I know he is not always nice and the only thing we can do about that is pray that he’ll get Jesus in his heart

Note to everyone out there. Sanjaya will be on the Idol tour! So he’s not done yet. AI knows what Sanjaya brings to the mix. He is very entertaining, which is why he was on the show for so long. Contrary to what everyone is saying, Sanjaya can sing. By the time the contestants were whittled down to 10, all of the contestants were competent singers. At that point it was just a matter of taste, what different people prefer to hear. It’s not a crime if some people prefer Sanjaya.

To “Johnston? below…

I appreciate your desire to “be nice” but the truth is you’re not living in the real world. Your happy little fantasyland where everything is beautiful and nobody loses is contrary to the human condition. (And don’t cry to me about how awful we’ve become—ancient “civilizations” were just as bad. In fact, they were much more savage. The sad truth is that only the strong survive, particularly in Hollywood. TRUTH rather than DELUSION is the best gift any critic can provide.)

I will agree with you though about one thing. I’d never want my kids to go on this show either. But that’s not b/c the judges are mean. It’s because I’m teaching my children that hollywood is a joke and that 99% of all who pass through it are battered and broken when they leave. (Britney, Whitney, et al) Teach your kids to value intelligence and kindness (not to be mistake for weakness or patronizing) and the world will be a better place.

This crazy world where they don’t keep score in little league and everyone gets a trophy is a joke. We “teach” our kids that competition is anathema and then what happens when they’re 22 years old, $50,000 in debt from college and have no survival skills? Oops!

Not to mention the fact that
Idol has been on the air for 5 seasons. People know what the show is about, how the judges work and what they are in for when they sign up. Most previous contestants site Simon as their favorite for several reasons, including:
**the fact that they actually learned something from his criticisms
**they’d rather have usable feedback than Paula’s nice, but useless “You’re awesome” comments to people who would get booed at a karaoke bar”
**When you don’t just hand out compliments to everyone - deserving or not - your positive feedback is much more appreciated
**people appreciate directness and honesty…I mean, you know when you’ve had a bad performance and sugar coating it can only send the dangerous signal that it’s okay to perform at a substandard level

jmho

Best to all!
(And THANK GOD SANJAYA IS GONE!!!)

Sanjaya has a lotta charisma. That’s what the people who voted for him saw. A lot of people appreciate a genuine, nice person trying his best. I’m sick of all the phoniness & crude stuff that goes for what’s supposed to pass for entertainment. Let’s have more Sanjaya!! There’s enough hate & rudeness out there.

Sanjaya is an adorable kid BUT being adorable isn’t enough. You have to have a ton of talent and I’m sorry, but singing isn’t his. Perhaps modeling?

I am so dissapointed in the way people have hurt this young man. He is just trying to follow a dream and the judges and alot of people have made him feel worthless. He has a very nice voice, personality and the whole package. These type of judges are what make young people feel so worthless that they go out into the world and do harmful things. These judges should criticise with a little professionalism and help them get better. Don’t just say your horrible. I would never allow one of my children to be on that show and watch them destroy there souls the way these judges have done. I will not watch them destroy anyone else. I hope that other people realize that the real jokes are the judges. Even if Sanjaya was terrible there is a better way to handle it, but what is sad he is not terrible. Well, I really hope people realize that the way they are destroying young lives can affect the way they are for the rest of their lives.
