Where is Britney’s family? Why hasn’t someone stepped in to help her straighten out her life?

you all dont have any idea how horrible it is being under a microscope all the time!!! What you do to britney, always in her grill, (face for the white folk) no private life, broken marrage, let this be your life and see if you dont have a nervous breakdown with-in 6 months. i commend her for holding it together this much. all shes doing is partying!!! leave the girl alone. let her get her life together before you bombard her with tabloid stories that are all blown way out of proportion. she needs to seek psychiatric help and all you do is make it worse for the girl, you people make me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To get an idea of what is happening with the reporting of this story, watch part 3 of the “Frontline” series “The News War”, two weeks from now, which will focus no doubt on harder news than the tabloid media regularly dishes out, such as with this Britney Spears story. But the point of the broadcast will be how very little original reporting is going on, most entertainment news now being picked up by at best questionable sources and echoed through every other reporting vessel, sometimes not dying down for months, some reporters not getting the story until after it has already been disproven, yet reporting it as fact because they didn’t get the part yet about it being disproven.

Here we have a national entertainment show like “Extra” picking up a story from someone named Szich, who herself is basing her reporting on a person she calls “Anna” who wants to be anonymous yet is someone she says is close to Britney. The account of the “Toxic” singer passing out is not an original one, as it mirrors the one that was reported on New Year’s Day, although that one was rubbished by the very guy who was at the next table from Britney at the time, even though he’s the same guy who decided to shut down the popular fan site WorldOfBritney.com, having become openly disenchanted with the Pop Tart to a sufficent degree. His disputing word about that earlier negative story should therefore back up the reports that Britney was merely falling asleep at the wee hours of the night on that occasion. Yet the Schichs of the world make their living continuing to smear Britney Spears by not disputing that earlier account, all while continuing to tarnish her reputation with the next questionable one.

So what will be the normal path of these words that, as Carol Burnett once put it, once written live a life of their own? Well already the immensely popular imdb.com is reporting the story naming “Extra”—not Szich—as the reliable source behind it, although the show clearly states it is taking the tabloid reporter’s word for it. And countless sites will no doubt follow imdb’s example and flood the Internet with what is basically an unsubstantiated story from a questionable reporter based on an unnamed anonymous source that may be fictitious. I would simply ask “Extra”, since you report the story and others are quoting you as the source, do you take some actual responsibility for the story’s reliability?

The reporting of Britney Spears’ recent behavior is troubling to anyone with eyes, but there is no doubt a faction of the tabloid media that spends its time making up better stories than what they can get out of the truth. And linking the reports of heavy drinking and overt public sexuality at places where that is the norm, to whether or not she is a good parent, is another leap in logic. Is Hugh Hefner a bad parent? Is Howard Stern, Madonna or any other person in adult enterainment unloving or uncaring? Has Britney had any DUI reports like other celebrities? Has she actually mistreated her children or been the focus of someone else’s abuse herself? For many, defending her recent behavior isn’t the point, but whether she has reached the point that such tabloids would like us to believe in order to sell magazines is the issue. Us magazine, as you probably know, reports with the mindset that celebrities are just like “Us” and therefore bringing them down any way a reporter can is welcome, in a profession that has become devoid of ethics.

As for the responses you seek from visitors to your Web site on the story, the character of those who I see have responded, who actually wish the pop star harm, or say how much they hate her, should indicate that what people think of your reporting is irrelevant to the fact of its irresponsibility and total lack of regard for any ethics usually applied to the mainstream news business.

But then again, that isn’t the business you are in. You are the television equivalent of the tabloid media, which in print is represented by The Star, The National Enquirer, Us magazine and many others, but especially by that source that walks the tightrope between gossip reporting and hard news, The New York Post. Owner Rupert Murdoch dropped the ball on responsible reporting about the war, while branding anyone who opposed Bush’s incompetent decisions as a traitor. Yet it is the nonexistent ethical guidelines associated with gossip reporting, as in his Page Six, that continues not only to dominate the entire entertainment media, but in the case of the Post and equivalent rags, the reporting of important news stories as well.

Own up, “Extra”!

Post Partum Depression, & Depression over the failiure of her marriage.
Unhealthy Coping is what she is doing right now. Someone close to her needs to do an intervention quickly before this ruins her career completely.
We are so quick to judge, but what we should do is when she is ready, get the help she needs, and let he move on….

I FEEL BRIT HAS TWO TYPES OF DEPRESSION AT THIS TIME. ONE IS FROM REALZING WHAT A MISTAKE SHE MADE WITH FERDERLINE AND THE OTHER IS POST PARTUM DEPRESSION. SHE NEEDS SOME HELP IN THE WORST WAY. PLEASE MOM,STEP IN AND DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. SHE USED BETTER COMMON SENSE AT 20 THAN SHE IS NOW. I THINK IT IS PPD THAT IS EFFECTING DEEPLY. I HAD 2 LITTLE BOYS 23 MONTHS APART YEARS AGO AND I DID EVERY THING BUT TAKE A GUN AND SHOOT MYSELF. I SEE BRIT DOING SOME OF THE SAME THINGS. THE PASSING OUT PART HAS ME EXTREMELY WORRIED. I HOPE NOONE IS SLIPPING THE DATE RAPE DRUG IN HER DRINK. I UNDERSTAND HER WANTING TO HAVE SOME FUN BUT SOMETHING HAS THROWN HER OFF TRACK. GET HER TO A DOCTOR SOON!!!

What Britney does on her personal time in no body’s buisness.I know a lot of women who have kids who go out partying every night of the week and you don’t see their faces all over the news. I think it’s time america found something more important to consider “news”
