You Tell Us: Should Isaiah Be Fired from 'Grey's Anatomy?'

It’s the real-life battle that’s dividing the cast of TV’s top drama, “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“He called me a faggot,” T.R. Knight said of Isaiah Washington to talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres.

Now, T.R.’s explosive accusation against his “Grey’s” co-star could cost Isaiah his job, according to TV Guide Consulting Editor Mary Murphy.

“He may have put them in a position where there’s nothing else they can do,” Murphy said. “I think that there’s an easy way to write him out. He’s already been marginalized, and I’m sure he’s very angry about that. I’m sure that’s part of what went on with him.”

Even the show’s loyal fans have expressed their frustration on the “Extra” website, posting comments like, “It’s time Mr. Washington goes home,” “Time to recast” and “Shame on him.”

Late Thursday, ABC told "Extra" : “We have a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously. His actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

However, Isaiah maintains the ordeal “really was blown out of proportion.”

The controversy has continued to shine the spotlight on the married father of three and former military man who starred in a string of Spike Lee films before “Grey’s” made him a household name.

The downside of that fame? Isaiah blames the press for keeping the controversy alive.

“I need to get some shares in some magazines because they made a hell of a lot of money,” Isaiah joked.

Meanwhile, co-star Katherine Heigl told “Extra” that what the once close-knit cast now needs is closure.

“It just needs to stop,” she said. “T.R. is my best friend in the world, and I’m not cool with his feelings being hurt.”

No Isaiah should not be fired. TR needs to grow up, like we didn’t suspect he was gay already. If the actors themselves on the show are going to make a big deal over it, then Washington has the right to speak out about it. Maybe TR has a history of disrespting his co-actors on the set of Grey’s Anatomy, and Washington had a weak moment and blew up. We do not know the entire story. People need to get over thinking that words are as lethal as weapons.

NO!!! There is no way Isaiah should be fired for this stupid incident. It all happened more than 3 months ago. Good grief, enough already!!! TK needs to just “man up” and let it go. Oh that’s right…he CAN’T “man up!” I say let it go, the Brother has made more apologies than the law allows. ENOUGH ALREADY!!! And by the way, someone referred to an openly gay character on “Ugly Betty” tonight as a “QUEEN.” Seems ABC executives talk out of both sides of their mouths about what the network will and won’t tolerate. Leave Isaiah alone and tell TK to shut the heck up. Now run tell that.

No. Absolutely do not fire him. I am so tired of actors having to tell all. “I am gay, I am a Christian, I am circumcised, I am a Democrat. Who the heck cares. Just act. That is what you were hired to do. I do not need your opinion on anything. Period. Get over your self importance. Popularity is not governed by your beliefs but by your talent.

I think Isaiah got off easy with the press. If the roles were reversed and
T.R. used the “N” word we would never hear the end of this……..Let them work this out. Isaiah shouldn’t get fired.

What’s stupid is all the people on this board throwing up race, color has nothing to do with sexual orientation. If the man say’s he didn’t say it leave it alone and stop acting like you all are above name calling. We all have called each other names. Every one just needs to mind their own business, There’s more important things going on in the world.

YES he should be fired. Yes he plays a good part on the show as well. BUT, he is a big boy he knows what to say and not to say in public. If he has nothing but bad things to say about another person, and not agree about someones else’s choices in life, well then he should only say that to himself. Not speak that out loud. Not only was an important night for him but, it was an important night for others. Now it is unfair to ruin someones else eveing just because he can’t keep his mouth shut. So, in result of his constant mistakes where he don’t learn he should be FIRED!!!!!!!
Didn’t his mamma teach him if you can’t say something nice well then don’t say nothing at all.
See how he can be replaced…. Just like that, and it would be all his fault. But, a person like that would just want to point his finger at everyone else for his wrong doing…

I think not. He is one of the main players on the show. And does a good job. What bothers me is the one who keeps saying fat slop all the time ,I got to where I mute it, and it upsets me real bad. Or I turn the channel. When I see them. I hope they work it out on greys. It is a wonderful show.

He should be written off, his character is uninteresting and does not add anything to the show.

His recent behavior is intolerable.
I am a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan, but am very disappointed by this and would like to see the producers do the right thing and remove his character from this great show.

I went back & read all of the notes & man have I had a chance o hart.Whoa— people-lets re-evaluate.He’s human-he made a mistake-have not we all?True, that if he’d been called the N word, all hell would have broken lose & that’s another hypocritical problem we need 2 work on, but that’s not the issue. We need 2 be more concerned w/the Muslim fanatics who want 2 kill everyone of us & is it any wonder—the way we treat each other over such BS!He needs 2 man up & apologize & take what ever comes. Like Little Richard says “mashed potatos, gravy & cranberry sause.Put it n perspective people.

He’s even uglier now than before, now that we can see that washington is as ugly inside as he is outside. Fire isiah and relieve me of ever having to see his ugly hateful mugg again!

Isaiah should be fired. If someone called him the “n” word it would be a BIG deal! He is not man enough to admit what he said on the set. The ease at which he said the “f” word at the Golden Globes shows is true character.

It’s too bad that a man who may have been discriminated in his past based on something he cannot change is so eager to lash out and cause hurt in another based on something that he himself also cannot change. Hatred is hatred and is definitely not entertaining. Isaiah should be relieved of his duties at Grey’s.

Yes, he should be fired. What always amazes me, and till the day that I die I’ll never understand is how so many persons of color can live so arrogantly with a chip of a double standards on their shoulders. What, it’s okay to defame a gay person as long as you don’t use the “N” word against him? I believe even his own race has to be calling him that now…. how very very sad. Double standards will ALWAYS keep this country divided.

Don’t even bother to take it back Mr. Washington; just leave Hollywood with your tail between your legs.

Get rid of the man now before he does any more damage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
