Was There an Undercover Affair on the 'Men in Trees' Set?

“Extra” spotted a smiling Anne Heche Wednesday, and the “Men in Trees” star appeared oblivious to the huge scandal swirling around her.

The TV Guide Channel was on the set of the ABC hit Wednesday, as Anne’s rumored affair with her co-star James Tupper exploded.

And on Thursday, “Extra” uncovered the clues that something between James and Anne may have been secretly blooming for some time.

We recently caught Anne out and about without her wedding ring. We also spotted her shopping with her hunky co-star in late December.

In October, Tupper dropped hints as he talked to “Extra” about his steamy on-camera sex scenes with Heche.

“It was really fun to shoot those scenes, I have to tell you,” Tupper admitted. “You wake up in the morning and you say, 'My job today is to go kiss Anne Heche'; that’s a pretty good deal.”

Tupper, dubbed “McTreemy,” even told us how his wife was handling the on-set chemistry.

“I did notice that when I got home my wife had bought a new $1,000 dress,” he joked.

But it was no laughing matter when, the very next month, Tupper’s marriage fell apart.

Meanwhile, Anne confirmed to us on Wednesday that her 5-year marriage was over, which was a shocking development considering what she had just told “Extra” about their home life.

“It’s good, it’s really good,” Anne gushed of her stay-at-home hubby and their 4-year-old son, Homer.

“He’s the best Mr. Mom I know,” she said.

During this difficult time, Anne told “Extra” that she and her soon-to-be ex request that everyone respect their privacy.

I say we should let them be. The show is amazing and their on screen chemistry was undeniable from the moment they first met and it hasn’t lost it’s spunk. They have managed to keep us waiting to see what comes next. It’s true that Hollywood is just this place where nothing ever seems to last but we should stop listening to gossip and the bad mouthing that will for sure happen. Haters are just hating this show’s success and the amazing lead actors that have brought it this far.

The posts above are appalling in their casual acceptance of affairs. The commitment of marriage is thrown away “to find love where you can”. What people in affairs don’t realize is that the forbidden fantasy and passion of the affair will fade away, and all you will be left with is betrayal and devastation. I guess if she wants to live her life hopping from affair to affair every few years, then it makes sense. But I have to think she’ll end up regretting it in the end, and I KNOW at least her children deserve better.

Grow up all you people who trash AH and JT about their marriages breaking up. You can’t break up people who don’t want to be broken up!! So these couples had probably been unhappy for some time before they found this new relationship. And it most likely won’t be forever but I say More Power to Them for pursuing love where they find it. As for AH’s kid I’m sure he’ll be fine. Most kids survive marriage breakups and I’m sure kids of celebrities don’t have the most “normal” of enviornments to grow up in anyways.

And I agree about Justine Bateman. WTF happened to her? I hate to judge people on appearances but come on. She’s so skanky and haggard looking. She must have been the good looking one at Elmo Secondary School. YIKES! Poor Jack.

I hope Anne is keeping a diary. It will help when she writes her second book, “Call Me Crazy II.” Tupper said he’s been looking for his big break for 10 years. His working wife stuck by him while he tried to make it in the acting world and had to take carpentry work for a living. He’s got a master’s degree in acting from Rutgers and has been in over 40 plays. But he’s not smart. The fall-out from these two marriage breakups are not going to be positive for him. An affair with Anne Heche is a joke. To throw away his marriage so he can be with her is just plain stupid. I see a quick demise to his career.

Ok, let’s let the person who is without sin be the first to throw stones at Anne or Tupper.

I love the show, and it also has alittle
adultery within its program, but we all still watch “Men in Trees”.

Leave them alone, enjoy the show, and let others live their own lives without criticism.

Are we standing at the pearly gates and passing into the kingdom of heaven the people we feel are “without sin”, come on ~ heaven will be very empty.

I love the show Men in Trees, and although I don’t advocate divorce, sometimes someone comes into your life and you have this amazing chemistry and love happens, especially when you are not looking for it. I wish Jack and Marin would get back together in the show, I like their chemistry together. Because they are so opposite, it really works. And please get rid of Justine Bateman, WOW she has no place in that show and certainly her and Jack have no chemistry. I wasn’t sure I would like that show, but now I watch every week. Love the cute clothes she wears and envy that she can wear them. Lady Ellen from Canada

Hello. As one of Ellen’s longterm fans and supporters, I’ve chosen not to watch any of Anne’s shows or future movies. I personally think that it was rather insensitive for Extra to present these interviews during Ellen’s 49th birthday weekend. Any other day That’s just my opinion.

I love Jack and Marin togther…I hope that Anne and James are happy. Who finds that kind of chemistry? WOW!! Sign me up!! I think anyone who is not happy for them is just jealous of the love and passion they possess. Please…50% of all marriages fail…why is Anne and James any different than any other couple in America. Please people…it is said that 51% of women over 18 are single females anyway. What is wrong with Anne being happy. Life is to short to be unhappy. If your are Puritan’s you shouldn’t be watching the show in the first place. And why would you watch a show if you hate looking at the star. I think Anne is beautiful is a sweet, perky way. Jack is to die for! All the characters and actors are wonderful on the show. But no show has the chemistry that Jack and Marin have…and now we know why!

Who cares? I like the show. Think Anne’s charactor is cute, dresses great, and generally seems to be taking life on!

What a dream to be able to pick up and move to some random place, meet a bunch of wacky people and create a life for yourself. And you get to ride around on a bicycle in a beautiful place, wearing the cutest duds. Plus, no worries about $, family, or all of the other crap life throws at us.

As for the guy, well, he is hot! And people get divorced, marriage is really difficult. So what if Anne H. has a history, we all do. At least she is living fully. As for her son, well, that is the fall out. Somehow I think he will be fine as one can expect, with or without his parents together.

In that industry, a traditional home life is impossible.

Gross is Justine Bateman. What the hell happened to her? I want to turn of the show when she is on. My husband and I are both horrified everytime she is on screen. BAD CASTING.

I used to think the Jack/Marin relationship on Men in Trees was cute. Knowing what I know now, its just plain gross. I don’t want to see James and Anne doing any more love scenes, it was easier to stomach when it was just acting.

A leopard never changes his spots…I wonder how long this fling will last.

My husband and I were just agreeing how Men in Trees would be a great show if she wasn’t on it. Her pasty, horribly madeup skeletor face, perenially dirty, stringy yellow hair and manic eyes are only equalled by her bird-like twitching and nasal deliveries. She is so unlikeable to watch, her bizarre energy is just a reflection of her inner neurosis. The girl is just a train wreck waiting for her next victim to run down. Unfortunately, this time it’s her child, her husband and her future victim James Tupper’s now ex-wife. This is the woman who told Barbara Walters she has an alter ego named Celestia (or was that Sybil?) and wrote an autobiography “Call Me Crazy.”
