I have not seen Dreamgirls but from all I have heard it will be great to see. I did watch ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and was very disappointed it got nominated for best picture. The little girl was great and maybe the interpersonal realationships were real but the “f” word was way overused in the little girls presence and then to add sniffing drugs and stripping as to what a little girl is exposed to was also too much. What are we continuing to teach our children? We know most x-rated and PG-13 movies are seen by young children.

Without a doubt Paul Giamatti should have been on the list of nominees for his incredible performance in The Illusionist. He’s been snubbed… again! I mean, for godssake they nominated Eddie Murphy…EDDIE MURPHY!!! What does this man have to do get some well deserved recognition?!

Booed at it’s Cannes premiere, the bigest Oscar Snub this year is Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette (Only nominated in one catory: Best Achievement in Costume Design). It should’ve been nominated for it’s acheivments in directing, soundtrack and cinematography. Kirsten Dunst delivered a stellar performance as the Austrian born Queen of France. It’s a shame, this is by far one of the best movies I’ve seen this year!

Sean Penn for All The King’s Men.

And also:

Guillermo del Toro.
What the heck?

Letters From Iwo Jima is not nearly as good a foreign language film as Pan’s Labyrinth.

Clint Eastwood shouldn’t be up for Best Director. Not that great for that film.

And Scorcese being up for Director is almost like a slap in the face.
He’s done some brilliant work, and The Departed is a not-so-great adapted screenplay, performed BRILLIANTLY, and directed sub-par (so far as Scorcese).
It’s a shame he didn’t get it for another movie, but the Academy shouldn’t give it to him for a film that isn’t as good, or well-directed as other nominees.

Children of Men should have been nominated for Best Picture.

And Michael Caine, Clive Owen…

Yeah.

These years nominations are awful.

And Cuaron for Best Director.

According to some reports that I have read, “Dreamgirls ” was probably overlooked because many voters assumed that it was a shoo-in and that others were voting for it and so they cast their votes for lesser movies. I am pleasantly surprised for the nominations that it DID receive, but disappointed that it was snubbed for best pic. I have NEVER been to a movie where audiences applauded throughtout the movie! I am also ticked that it opened in only about 800 theaters. The first day that I went, it was sold out.

I don’t understand why Dreamgirls was not nominated for best picture…..it was just as entertaining as the musical, “Chicago and it was nominated. Was it because “Chicago” was about women murdering their boy friends and husbands and “Dreamgirls” was not as morbid?

Brad Pitt. One of the panelists on Larry King last night said the “Brangelina” thing may have cost him the nomination. So who you are dating and/or living with is now a factor in a nomination? Yikes, I thought it was about the work. This guy is doing great things around the world with the other half of Brangelina and that cost him the nomination? I don’t get it.

This is for Rob Lail who argues ” Dreamgirls got a truly “Raw Deal”.
Rob your agrument doesnt make sense, are you saying that the Academy should recognise a movie because of “WHO” are in the movie, or what ethnicity the movie is surrounded around, i wish to disagree. i think the Academy should recognise a movie for the story line, the direction, the portrayals, the scenery, the dramatism, the comedy, and all the other creative and intuitive accomplishments of the movie, now if u argue that Dreamgirls hit the bullseye there everytime, then i may say, yea they were cheated…

Sacha Baron Cohen should have got a nomination for his hilarious performance as Borat, one of the funniest comedies and characters to grace movie screens in years. I am glad the film got a screenplay nomination despite the fact nearly all the movie was improvised.

Sheryl Crow. Music for Home of the Brave (song Try Not to Remember) and Cars (Real Gone).
Try not to Remember especially deserves an Oscar.

I think Beyonce was snubbed for Best Actress for sure, and Brad for Best Actor. Also, Leo better win this year, he is nominated but they never give to him, which totally sucks. I think Kate should win Best Actress, (her & Leo should both have won for Titanic, that was an amazing movie, they so deserved to win.) Also, Happy Feet needs 2 not win, that is so not OSCAR worthy… And Monster House the same, how is that OSCAR worthy??? Good luck Leo, Kate & Brad!! We luv u guys!!

Dreamgiirls not being nominated for best picture shows the academy must have been in a “dreamworld”. We must ask ourselves one simple question. When was the last time you went to the theatre to see a film, and the entire audience burst out in applause and stood to their feet? In most of our lifetime’s, never. The ability to move your soul inside and out. Isn’t that what a best picture nominee should be all about? I have seen the film four times at the theatre and I still can’t get enough. The angels that rest in Jennifer Hudson’s throat. Oh my goodness! The music, the costumes, the storyline, all excellent. We all know what the best picture of the year is. It doesn’t take the academy to validate that either…
