Randy Jackson: From Waiting Tables to Judging 'Idols'

Only "Extra's" Terri Seymour is taking Randy Jackson back in time, to when the lovable "American Idol" dawg was a mere puppy!

Even back then, Randy was as popular with his classmates as he is now with "Idol" fanatics.

"I had a good time," Randy recalled of his younger days. "It's always about having a good time, no matter what you're doing."

But at what age did Jackson know he wanted to be a star?

"I knew I wanted to be a musician since I was like 10 or 12 years old," Randy revealed.

And the rest, as they say, is musical history; but not without a few bumps in the road to success.

"I tried to be a waiter once, I tried once to be a waiter in a restaurant, and I was just awful at it," Randy confessed. "They would say, 'What are the specials, what's good on the menu?' And I would say, 'It's all crap!' I just couldn't tell a lie. Me and George Washington, we just couldn't lie."

Randy's brand of honesty has made him a fan favorite among the "Idol" judges, and there will be much more of that to come now that "Idol's" season six is just around the corner.

"This is probably going to be the most intense season we've had," Randy said. "And it's probably going to be one of the closest as to who wins and what happens."

Catch the intense action unfold when "American Idol" beings Jan. 16 on FOX!

I want to know where the shirts that Randy Jackson wears on American Idol are purchased? Who makes the shirts?

Randy Jackson,

1. I sent a video of a performance of a song I had written to Jimmy Kimmel for his future talent showcase. Last night (02/27/2007)when you opened American Idol, you used tone, phrasing and accents that were coincidentally spot on. Since you and Jimmy Kimmel are tight you might find my tape interesting. So if you and Jimmy have about 3 minutes to kill, have him play my tape for you.

2. Unless the bank teller catches a cold, she’s the next American Idol. Either you guys missed the male singers or none showed up. This year, the best male singers are somewhere behind the 8th or 9th place female singer.

3. If you guys had kept the country babe Bailey, the cart puller from Colorado, and the girl who did the Bonnie Raitt song you could have altogether cancelled the guy portion of AI. Send the boy band boys home.

Best Regards,

Bert Griffin
