NBC Adds Fourth Hour to 'Today'

As “Extra” first reported, NBC announced it will expand the “Today” show.

In order to accommodate a four hour, the network has cancelled its daytime soap “Passions,” which will likely continue through August, while insiders says the new “Today” show is slated to begin in September.

But loyal “Passions” lovers don’t cry just yet: there is mounting speculation that NBC will continue with its soap, but perhaps on a different platform.

You can be sure “Extra” will keep you informed on all the latest happenings!

Why add another hour to Today’s show?? No need. Let’s make Passions a better show and keep it on for more coming years. Please, please DO NOT cancel Passions!!! Please think of us, fans of Passions.

I don’t think NBC realizes how loyal us Passions fans are. I’m a Gwen fan, but if you take away the character of Theresa, I KNOW there will be many people boycotting NBC.
To do this just to add another long boring hour to the Today Show, is saying goodbye to loyal viewers - who have been loyal to NBC for the last 8 years watching Passions regularly.
I also think this takes away from the Today show. LESS IS MORE!!!!

SAVE PASSIONS!!!! Don’t take it off the air! We don’t need another hour of the Today Show, that’s just ridiculous. And if NBC thinks we do need another hour, why does it have to be at Passions expense? If anything, why don’t they get rid of the repeats of Jay Leno they have on at 3 in the morning? I’m sure a lot of people wont care what time Passions is on, as long as its on. It’s more than just a show to me, it’s my escape from my crappy reality. For an hour everyday i get to just forget about my problems and focus on the ones of those in Harmony. It might sound crazy but in a way Passions sort of saved me life. One day when i was really depressed, I thought about ending it all, but then I thiught to myself that I’ll never get to find out what happens next with Luis and Sheridan. and so obviously I didn’t do it, I stayed around to watch the next episode of Passions. With Passions off the air, I don’t what I’m going to do. There is no show that could ever replace it, and I know for as long I live, I will NEVER watch NBC again! And I will do my best to make sure that others stop watching NBC as well.

A fourth hour of a show?? COME ON! The stars on that show have a life and so does america. What happened to variety! NBC used to be my #1 viewing station, I’ll have to switch now! (SORRY DAYS)

This is just so ridiculous!!! I am outraged. To cancel Passions is one thing but to cancel it for a 4th hour of the today show!!!! Does NBC even care slightly about its viewers or is all about ratings? Ratings can be brought up with some hard work (ON BEHALF OF THE WRITERS!) but viewer loyalty isn’t something that comes and goes. Let’s reconsider, NBC.

WHY DONT THE LOYAL VIEWERS GET A VOTE IN THIS

DO WE WANT ANOTHER HOUR OF THE TODAY SHOW??

DO WE WANT TO FIGHT TO KEEP PASSIONS?

IF NBC IS DEAD SET ON EXTENDING YET ANOTHER HOUR AND FORCE US TO PUT UP WITH YET ANOTHER HOUR OF THE TODAY SHOW, THEN REMOVE MILLIONAIRE OFF THE AIR WE DONT WANT 5 HOURS OF MARIDITH VERRA A DAY!

COME ON GIVE US A CHANCE TO FIGHT FOR WHAT WE WANT AND WHAT WE PAY FOR.

I think its sad that NBC wants to extend the TODAY show, whats up with that, I quit watching TODAY when Katie left, How about removing Millionaire instead of Passions. There is more Money in it for NBC to keep Passions than to extend The Today Show, anyway so many people watch SOAPS! Your Sponsors may not like it either, due to the audience they aim for at the time frame Passions is on. Good Luck to NBC when they pull the plug on passions, because angry fans will pull the plug on NBC

HOW DARE THEY CANCEL PASSIONS!!! tHAT IS THE ONLY SOAP OPERA I WATCH, AND I HAVE WATCHED IT SINCE DAY 1! LIKE WE NEED ANOTHER HOUR ADDED TO THE ALREADY BORING TODAY SHOW, GIVE US A BREAK AND LEAVE PASSIONS AND DAYS OF OUR LIVES ALONE!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE SAVE PASSIONS. I AM SURE YOU CAN FIND SOMETHING ELSE ON TO CANCEL, NOT OUR SOAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would anyone think that another hour added to an already long Today Show would be a good thing? Passions being cancelled is a slap in the face to many, many fans and NBC should be ashamed of themselves.

this is horrible. we will not stand for this. the today show doesn’t need an extra hour. this is my favorite show. NBC, i and others like me will boycott your network if you take passions or days of our lives of of the air.

Please save PASSION, I am also a CANADIAN viewer and I absolutely loves this show. I am very depress that the show will be cancel. I have been watching this show for a long time and waiting for my super-couple to reunite , Ethan and Theresa, are the reason that I watch NBC, at all , well I am really disappointed with this. Please reconsider for your loyal fan. Thank You!

Four hours of Today is not something I want to see. There are so many other ways of getting news and entertainment. Soap Operas still have a place in this crazy tv world.

This is the worst decision ever and I will continue to express my anger and disappointment with NBC’s stupid decision. Keep Passions on air!

I LOVE Passions!!!!! Please reconsider the decision to cancel it! If there must be 4 hours of the Today show, show it early and get rid of an hour of info-mercials!!!

Cancelling Passions for that show will be the biggest mistake made to NBC. So many devoted fans watch Passions. People have alot of problems in their own personal life and SOAPS are the way to run away, keeping their minds temporarily on hold by reminding them that there are other situations worse off than their own is what makes people stronger. SOAPS may not be real, but it is an example of real life drama. Another Talk show will not make anymore ratings! I don’t even watch that stupid show, by seeing the clips, two people sitting on their back side talking about other people’s personal life is not going to win over OPRAH’s show!!! At least OPRAH HELPS PEOPLE, NOT BAD MOUTH THEM! LEAVE PASSIONS ON!!

SAVE PASSIONS
Passions is the one soap that caters to a younger demographic. Long time soaps may have better ratings now but their audience is slowly dying of old age! 4 hours is too long for a news show. At least continue Passions on another station that can be seen
