Leonardo DiCaprio Adopts in South Africa?

It seems another famous face may be following in the humanitarian footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Madonna by adopting an African orphan.

According to gossip columnist Cindy Adams, Leo is financially supporting a little girl he met while filming in South Africa.

However, she added, the child will not live with him and will remain in the region where he'll support her through monthly checks.

Leo confirmed to "Extra" that he met a young girl while visiting an orphanage in Mozambique.

"Visited a lot of the children there; there was a young girl that was on the movie that I spent a lot of time with," he dished.

However, Leo's publicist told "Extra" on Thursday that he doubts Cindy Adams' story is true.

Leonardo DiCaprio is not believable in any action role. Watching blood diamonds I almost puked when he put on a South African Afrikaans accent for A Rhodesian / Zimbabwean. The kid has no oomph so why do the studios continue to cast in action roles?

The are enough orphaned kids in US
what the hell are they doing in Africa
Get behind global warming and perhaps
we will believe in something he does

Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing- not just as an actor, but as a person. He is such a caring human being. He has made tons of donations to all kinds of campaigns. And now he is proving his maturaty as an adult. I think the idea of Leo adopting is extrordinary! Besides, he so so handsome! He will go far in life and his career. He’s making an awesome comeback! Good for you Leo!

leo use to be such a party boy in his younger titanic days and he even accused himself of being something of a don juan. but what he did for this child shows that he has turned into a mature responsible actor and human being. even though there has been very quite a bit of actors to adopt or support children in other countries, i still don’t think that there can be enough people to adopt a child. it not only proves that the person does think of others by themselves { especially actors } but that they have a huge heart. again i don’t think in all my years of knowing leonardo that i have ever seen him do a more lovable thing for another human being. leonardo if you ever read this, keep up the good work !!!

As a transplanted American, I believe Leo is being very responsible to not take the girl from her environment. Many southern African orphans are cared for by extended family, however meager their means. Their concept of family puts us Americans to shame. My skin crawled at Oprah’s recent comments about the Hollywood African adoption craze. Growing up in America is not always “better.” Growing up rich is not always “better.” There is no other country I’d rather hold citizenship in, but I’m glad my children will grow up experiencing life outside the US. Moving to work in South Africa, my husband and I have already seen our children grow in many ways. They will grow up with a true appreciation of what most Americans take for granted. So, kudus to Leo.

I really really hope this is not just another fad for hollywood. I can understand and also appreciate celebrities or even people in general giving back or helping someone in need but if this is just being done to boost your popularity, it wont work. It’ll eventually come out that your just a fake. I love you Leo. Please don’t disappoint me.
