George Clooney and Friends Unite for Operation Darfur

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are just a few of the stars who are uniting to stop the crisis in Darfur. Clooney and his father took “Extra” on a journey to the border of Chad and Darfur.

“My father and I thought we'd come over and take a look for ourselves,” Clooney said.

The horrors that the Clooney men found are ones that stars like Brad, Angelina Jolie, Maria Bello and “Hotel Rwanda” star Don Cheadle are all too familiar with.

“There is a systematic attempt to eradicate an entire population of people,” Cheadle explained.

Those people are black Africans who are hunted by Arab militias armed by the Sudanese government.

“After the Holocaust, the word was never again,” Bello said. “And here it is; we're in the midst of another genocide, and we're letting it happen.”

“We found a village called Jacque, with over 1,000 displaced families,” Clooney said. “These people had jobs and property before the Arab militia burned their villages, raped their women and killed their children."

With a population on the brink of extinction, a growing list of celebrities are trying to shine their light on Darfur, including Pitt and Jolie, who were involved in producing “God Grew Tired of Us,” the story of the Lost Boys of Sudan.

“This is one story among millions... millions... of people that are running for their lives,” Pitt told “Extra” at the film’s premiere.

“It's a reminder that there are 20 million refugees around the world and the situation in Darfur is getting worse everyday,” Jolie added.

Bello recently made the issue into a fashion statement at the Critics Choice Awards, wearing a jewel-encrusted dress with “Peace in Darfur” embellished across her back.

“I thought what the heck, it’s my little voice, but there it is,” she said of her decision. “If it could get one person, one person to go to the Internet and educate themselves and write one letter to a congressman, then I think it's done its job.”

“What we cannot do is turn our heads and look away, and hope that this will somehow disappear,” Clooney preached. “Because if we do, they will; they will disappear and an entire generation of people will be gone.”

george are you sending money to darfur to help the christians being slautered by muslims or are you helping the muslims to slauter more christians? I honestly can’t tell which side your on! You seem to play both sides against the middle. When you give money or aide to anyone your not supposed to brag about it! I guess as long as it gets you in the news, that’s what counts!

In walking on Wilshire April 24, 2007 w/ families who where the members able to escaped the genocide in 1915.

Now you see & hear; DO KNOW LATER, IT IS HAPPENING & IT IS WRONG.

GOD says, to love our neighbors, as ourselves.

If someone does not love themselves, turn & only give to the giver.

Help, work &/or Pray for all of these people AND the peace of Jeruselam.

I am out of Malibu, so I am easy to find.

To the Black Sheep, as we flock togather
recall; we have a Shepherd, a Savior; hold steady to hear: “Arise,Come forth”

Wait on the Lord Jesus & know you^ll^ be saved.

Rejoice thru our pain, as our Father’s before us have also suffered, & great
is our reward.

The knowledge in our heart, they can not
remove, even aft our death, our love is
still.

Keep looking up to GOD & listen for the
Trumpet & HIS voice “Saints, Arise my love, come hither to me”

When we see each other, recognize me w/ the sqaure & rectangular flowers; as I know GOD is still creating.

I have heard GOD 3 times Very Out Loud,
since I have heard HIM, know it is both
allowable & abtainable to hear HIM aloud
SO LISTEN ^UP, Hhmmmm the LORD our my Master & the Lord is our refuge as For- Ever & Ever & Ever… AMEN

For you 2; Poof an Idea

Its sad that the USA doesn’t give a damn about the people dying in this sad conflict.

BUT of course there is no oil in the Sudan…only dying poor people.

Thank goodness for people who care enough to attempt to change terrible situations, even though it may seem impossible. Celebrities like these prove they care about more than just themselves.

Dear George Clooney

We are still battling to try and raise your email address so I pray this one reaches you.

The company we work for is called Hewc Pty Ltd and has an anaerobic toilet system which is ideal for not only Africa but elsewhere in the world. We are wanting to send you more information on the system as you are currently working in Darfur, Sudan and the system is ideal for non water areas, high water areas, odourless, destroys cholorea, dysentry and thyphoid etc. The UN’s have asked our boss Hano to do a presentation on the system at the meeting in South Africa on the 13th June 1007.

We are currently busy with many other countries in Africa and they are franchising to manufacture the system in their countries. The system creates employment and is environmentally friendly in that it does not pollute borehole, river or dam water and also does not pollute the soil whereas the VIP, Pit Latrine also known as the French drain pollutes both drinking water and soil.

The system is in line with the World Health Organisation.

Should this interest you for not only Sudan but other countries please email me on moekie151@yahoo.co.uk

Kind Regards

I won’t dignify a response to some of the irresponsible comments but do think the email about “everyone having a choice” deserves another point of view. To me, that is the tragic part for all the victims of Darfur and other places, they have NO choice. And the options are life-threatening. Though I am concerned, that is not the case for most of our homeless, unemployed, etc. Their “choices” of food, shelter, work, etc don’t often involve seeing their loved ones shot, decapitated, raped and worse. Nor is it a matter of eradicating their entire race. For me it is very difficult to compare the needs here (though they too are significant and need to be addressed)with constant life and death issues such as in Darfar.

This sounds like another case of the white man’s burden we can save them from genocide today so they can starve or die from aids tomorrow.

George Clooney is either a phoney or very naive. He has become - either inadvertently or intentionally - a funder and supporter of American Jewish neo-conservative causes and the spin promulgated by the American Jewish lobby to distort history in an effort to stall, impede and obstruct the ARMENIAN QUESTION from being answered once and for all and requiring the U.S., Turkey and Israel from recognizing the Armenian Genocide at the political level like the American Jewish lobby required of Germany, the U.S. and the U.N.

How many Holocaust Rememberance days are there?

George’s attorney and 43 call Shimon Peres a poet. This is nonsense.

Mr. Peres is a genocide denier who specifically stated whether or not the killing of Armenians at the hands of Turks was genocide was a matter of historical debate, he is a distorter of the truth. The Israel Consul to the U.S. states the Armenian Genocide is meaningless.

And, not a peep out of George about the U.S., Israel and Turkey recognizing the Armenian genocide. Hey, George, you are so Sudan chic. You big bozo. Neocon draped in the flag claiming to be a card carrying member of the Democratic party. Puhleeze.

And if you don’t believe Darfur is part of the American Jewish spin campaign - just google “Darfur” “Jewish” “Southern California” and see how much this issue was publicized before George got on board.

And George’s attorney is the former president of the American Jewish Committee.

one doesn’t need to go to the country to speck out against genocide. yes, we do have a lot of problems in our country but that doesn’t mean that you can not speck out for an other country, especially when genicide is happening. these celebrities are not standing still. they are using their celebrity to bring awareness to people that might not know what is going on over there. it is a courageous move because the criticism that they receive for just specking their minds can have a negative effect on their careers. they are obviously not willing to stand by and watch it happen, no matter what the consequences. if you want to help.. call your congressman or woman and demand the US to change our policies!

Within small or large spheres of daily lives, every attempt to be of help is a blessed one - both for the giver, and the receiver. It is what keeps us human, and hopeful, and inspired to try again tomorrow. Each gesture’s value, then, is priceless - no matter how small the sphere. Its quiet ripple collects and includes much larger hearts, and minds, and waves, in a gentle wash of love that is cleansing, and lasting, and speaks of goodness, and life, and sunshine, and renewal - not eradication. How joyous the heart, then, to think that even the good wishes of the poorest hands, and the smallest of voices, might yet create blessings and possibilities, move Mighty Men, and form, together, as a Promised Rainbow, a Mighty, Thunderous Harmony of Love’s Song far beyond themselves - as it should be. Surgite.

It’s wonderful to have stars like George Clooney, Don Cheadle, Maria Bello and Mia Farrow part of the movement towards stopping Darfur’s genocide! As George said at the U.N. this is our Rwanda!

I agree with Stephen. When THE PEOPLE ban together, progress is made. It’s great that Celebrities are calling awareness to Darfar but hope they realize, America does need more Celebrities and influential figures to work on erradicating the many injustices here.
