ABC to Take Action Against Isaiah Washington

In light of the recent controversy surrounding “Grey’s Anatomy” stars T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington, ABC tells “Extra” today:

"We have had a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

You know what angers me the most is that he lied at the Golden Globes!! He really thought that putting himself out there pretending to be a nice guy abused by the press was gonna work. Good for T.R. for taking that Mr. Nice Guy mask off of Isaiah!! We all have our problems we dont need other people to make us feel horrible.

Isaiah Washington has caused two stressful incidents on the set of Grey’s Anatomy. It started with Patrick Dempsey and now with T.R. Knight. Anyone who believes that the apology statement that Isaiah made to the public about Patrick was sincere, needs to open their eyes. In reference to his apology towards T.R. Knight was completely “politically incorrect”.

This man can be replaced, there is no doubt about it. I could think of a few black men that are good looking that can easily replace Washington.

So ABC, it is time to issue the pink slip.

Sincerely,
Avid Fan of Grey’s Anatomy

i have a horrible feeling everytime i see isaiah. it was a cruel thing to voice. he is not a compassionate person. as much as i LOVE this show i am hoping i won’t have to see this man on any longer. people should have consequences when they act badly. who does he think he is? “my momma always told us if you have nothing kind to say to someone then we have no business saying anything.”

shame on isaiah!

i want to keep watching the show , but i may not if he stays on.

Obviously Mary Murphy, TV Guide Consulting Editor, is on a mission to get Isaiah Washington fired. She begins by characterizing his response to a question about an old conflict as a new affront. Then she infers that firing is the only solution “there’s nothing else they can do.” Next she offers a firing strategy, “there’s an easy way to write him out.” Finally she calls on her media pals to pretend that it is news, when it’s really an announcement to his enemies of an opportunity to do him harm.

No, Isaiah Washington should not be fired, it’s Mary Murphy who should be fired …

It’s a great show and I hate to see either one of them go off the show. Keep them both… and keep the peace. What they do or say off camera doesn’t make or break the show for me. When I watch the show I do not think of them any other way except who they are in the screen names. And the writers have done a wonderful job making them appear to be great friends and awesome doctors. Keep it at that.

Hopefully, any unresolved issues will be individually addressed. On the show, the characters are a perfect blend to viewers. So please give Mr. Washington another chance.

No. The show works. His character is great. Are you going to wreck a show whose stars appear to have great chemistry on set? It was the press that provoked the incident with a question that was inappropriate and mean spirited given the celebratory nature of the event. They just won’t let up on Isiaih. He lost control; bad move. I’m sure he regrets it. Let him have his moment of remorse and grow. Though his comment was nasty it was certainly not a Michael Richards nor a Mel Gibson moment. I will never respect or forgive those guys. Isiah’s comment did not apppear to indicate a dangerous prejudice, more likely an anger management problem fueled by a press that grinds away at a guy not used to the pressures and attention of stardom. Give the guy a break. Let it go, and it will go away. Let the cast resolve their problems off stage like adults. Maybe you could just send him for a day of rehab.

His behavior is intolerable and action should be taken. Any other company would of taken serious action against an employee who behaved this way towards a co-worker. That behavior was rude, ignorant and unnecessary.

His character does nothing for the show and could easily be written off and wouldn’t be missed.

I am a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan and would love to see less of his character.

Isiah Washington need to think before he speaks. The Globes was not the place. The place would be between you and TR period. I did not get why you would fall into such a trap of speaking about such an ugly subject. You know the press is just waiting and their you were lips flaping that was such a stupid thing to do. You don’t like beign called the N-word same difference, You can have a difference of opinion and still work with someone. I love the show changing people would not be the same.

No Mr. Washington should not be fired. He needs to grow up and understand we are all different in this world.

If you can get fired just by name calling then a lot of us would be out of jobs.

Just sit down with each other and has things out. Do you think the person who said they will beat up someone for messing with their friend be fired. That’s a threat I think that is just as bad as calling someone a name.

Seriously!!! This is name calling in the real world. I have several gay friends who think it’s silly to fire him for this. If this were grade school, he’d be benched for recess!!

No, Isiah should not be fired. Consistency, consistency, then what do you do with Rosie? She shoots off her big mouth & there seems to be NO consequences. Everyone is human, and everyone bloobs, so if we have to put up with Rosie’s BIG mouth, then Isiah’ s apology should be taken. He seems to say that he needs to work on this area, and is seeking help. Now, if only Rosie saw it the same way … that she has some work to do also. HMMMMM…. don’t we all have some work to do? No, firing, don’t get carried away . .. unless Rosie has to go too. You can’t fire Isiah for a blooper, and not Rosie who is riding the legal fence of slander.
If one goes, the other needs to go too. No one likes to be on the end of slander, name calling, etc. It is recognized as bully behavior by educators. It is just not tolerated period. Clean it up guys, and get your acts together. You have the power of influence—stop abusing it!

No. Mr. Washington is a very telented actor and we should give him a second chance. However, Mr. Washington must apologize to TR. Knight. I watch Grey’s Anatomy because of them and I can’t afford to lose either of them.

I myself do not know what went on or was said by Issiah to T.R. in October on this matter…, but for Isaiah Washington to bring this back up on the Golden Globes and use such a slur..WAS inappropriate, should he be fired for this..No, I don’t believe so..but an apology is a definate.

He was given a chance to rectify his deplorable behavior and he failed. It’s time to go. Looking at other posts it is clear that people do not understand, or choose to dismiss, the depth of hurtfulness that results from such ‘name calling’. This is the point - not adequately addressing the issue -FIRING HIM - only serves to reaffirm the lack of sensitivity, understanding and knowledge exhibited in so many of the posts I see here. Also, it is time for Shonda Rhimes to STEP UP and speak to this matter - she didn’t hesitate to defend him the first time around - now acknowledge that this behavior is NOT okay!!

I love Isaiah Washington and I love his character.
But yeah it was inapropriate for him to make that comment at the Golden Globes. However, I don’t think he should be fired - just yet.
He should be put on probation and possible go to training like police, fire, managers,, etc have to go to. Hopefully, he will learn the power of his words. Or maybe he will be upset that he has to go and just quit. I hope not….
