ABC to Take Action Against Isaiah Washington

In light of the recent controversy surrounding “Grey’s Anatomy” stars T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington, ABC tells “Extra” today:

"We have had a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

I am a high school teacher. If I were publicly say the “F” word to a faculty member, student, parent, administrator, etc. I would be fired immediatley and could possibly be sued by the school ditrcit for slander.

My husband works for General Electric, one of the biggest companies in the world, in fact GE owns the NBC network. GE has a zero tolerence policy - he would absolutley be fired on the spot if he publicly said the “F” word not once, let alone twice.

Too bad Grey’s isn’t owned by NBC rather than ABC because Isaiah Washington would more than likely been terminated immediatley.

The man said something he shouldn’t have. He’s apologized. Get over it. The media and some very judgmental people are making a huge deal out of nothing. It seems like TR Knight and K. Heigel are trying to stir up problems by shooting their mouths off. Let’s move on to more interesting and important things.

He has no class. He should be fired. I’m highly offended and have no problem not watching Grey’s Anatomy anymore (one of my favs) if he stays.

How wrong is this?????
Instead of having a hand problem, they should cut out his “tongue!” And cut him out of the series! Everyone is replaceable, even Mr. Washington! Greys Anatomy, does not need an individual like him at all, to still be the greatest show on television!

I’m sad for TR Knight and would hate to know that I have to work with someone who obviously has issues with homosexuality. I belive Washington is a great actor, but certainly not irriplacable and the show will go on with out him. With the cast they have, him being gone will not end the show. Their writers are so amazing that they will have no issues in getting rid of him with out hurting much of the story line.
I think ABC should listen to the Donald and tell Washington “YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!” As for TR - I applaude your bravery and I admire the other cast members for sticking up for him!!

Mr. Washington being in the public eye as he is should know better than to use this sort of language about anyone, anywhere, anytime.
There are many hopefuls who can porobably do the job he has on Grays Anatomy with much more tact and grace.
He needs to go to CHARM school!
Grays Anatomy is one of my favorite shows. I wont miss it ever.
I also will not miss Mr Isiah Washington.
iHOPE THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER WILL CLEAN HOUSE!LET ME SAY WHOEVER IT IS UP TO,YOU SHOULD CLEAN HOUSE.Don Ziegler. Wichita Ks

No he should not be fired. Stupid reason to fire anyone. He is a great actor & adds to the show. If he is fired I will stop watching the show. Grey’s is one of my favorite shows but will definitely stop watching it if this happens.

I don’t think that Mr. Washington should be fired. If the issue was resolved in October why did TR bring it up again on Ellen. If it was over he should have not mentioned it again. Isaiah Washington may should have found a different time other than the Golden Globe to defend himself but I don’t think that he was calling TR a name again. I think that he was trying to defend himself against what T.R. said on Ellen.

People make mistakes BUT to make them twice is not acceptable. In the corporate business world this is grounds for immediate dismissal. Why should the entertainmant industry be different.

Yes, Mr. Washington should be fired. These kind of slurs against someone that is gay is unacceptable. If it was a white cast memeber using the N word and directing it towards Mr. Washington, the NAACP would be calling, demanding a public apology, and threatening to boycott the show. Somehow, people (even in other minority groups) think it is okay present this kind of behaviour towards gay people. This type of behaviour is why there needs to be included in the Civil Rights Act sexual identity and sexual orientation.
When I was in college at West Georgia College, I experienced similar comments by two Afican-American females. They walked by me and my best friend and said, “I think I smell two dykes” I had not dated anyone in college, male or female, so what were these two women basing their assumptions on the way that I look. So, I wrote an editorial in the news paper and discussed the incident, not divulging the ethnicity of these two women. But, how can members of a minority group, that has been historically discriminated against and the subject of horrible slurs, think that it is okay to turn the table and discriminate and victimize another minority group.
This type of behaviour from someone in the African-American community should not be tolerated, and should be treated with the same disgust as if it had been a racial slur. The fact that he is denying it when everyone on the cast heard it, tells me he has got a real problem. Applauds to Katherine Heigl and to Patrick Dempsey for having the intestinal fortitude to stand up for Mr. Knight.

Grey’s Anatomy is a wondeful show and I to think that each person on that show compliments each other. Mr Washington made a mistake and apologized, get over it. If they fire Mr. Washington that will ruin the whole ahow.

I think Mr. Washington is a impressive and strong actor. I think the press goes to the extreme when they don’t like a certain actor and want them replaced. Mr Washington is one of the strongest actors on the show.

I don’t believe that Mr. Washington should be fired because this incident on the show had already been dealt with in October. It’s the media and Knight that just keep on talking about it. This should be dealt with like adults between these two gentlemen. Isiah is a very important part of the show and I love the inter action between Kristina and himself. Knight’s charater is very boreing and I personally could do without him. Burke and Kristina really make the show pop. The incident at the Golden gloves was unfortunate but it’s not worth Isiah getting fired. ABC is such a hypocrite….Rosie talks about people and makes fun of them and she’s still on the “View” and look at how they screwed over Star Jones. ABC uses a double standard when it comes to African American Actors than it does White actors. If they fire Isiah Washington I will no longer watch the show. If you fired someone everytime something deemed inappropriate was said no one would be working.

This is outrageous! I’m disgusted that Isaiah Washington is being treated this way. You know Gay people call straight people names also. I’m sick of the gay community trying to influence everyone else tolerate their lifestyle. We all have differences of opinion- DEAL WITH IT! I would never take this much action if a gay or lesbian knocked me for being straight/ of a different race/ or for my religion. We live in a country that is a democracy and need to learn that other people besides gays/lesbians have rights also!

Outrageous!

I think Mr washington should loose his job this is not a black or white issue. This is about respect in the work place. I work for a government office, this would be totally unacceptable and there would be very serious consequences for remarks of this nature.Seeing he is a public figure and is sending the wrong message out to young people who might watch the show.Nobody show make this into a black or white issue the man is wrong that”s all there is to it. Shame on you Mr Washington Dave fan of the Greys Anatomy
