ABC to Take Action Against Isaiah Washington

In light of the recent controversy surrounding “Grey’s Anatomy” stars T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington, ABC tells “Extra” today:

"We have had a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

I realy love this show and want Isaiah Washington to remain on the show. Without him the stoey line changes and not for the better. I myself have been called names. Get over it and let these wonderful talented actors resume this very adult show that my husband and i watch every week. forgive everyone for making mistakes and continue a great show.

It was a misunderstanding, and ignorance on Mr. Washington’s part as for the Global Awards; Put him him anger management and give him the choice go to class or be fired. But I don’t think he ought to be fired.

Please… he chose to continue to hold up this facade and lie his way thru it and embarrass that marvelous cast one more time, on a SO SPECIAL NIGHT LIKE THAT… to get his arrogant attention.. I would LOVE for him to be off the show.. so they can all move on, the show DOES NOT NEED HIM AT ALL, and the story line is worn out!

My family, friends and I think that Isiah Washington’s character should be eliminated from Grey’s Anatomy. His comments were deplorable. We won’t watch this show until he’s removed.

I LOVE Grey’s Anatomy, the ENTIRE cast, and if you take Mr. Washington off it will never be the same, and I most likely won’t watch it anymore. He is one of the original persona! Wake up people, these characters are NOT real!! You know, like cartoon characters!!! So don’t combine their personal life with their acting. And remember boys and girls what Mommy taught us when we were young; STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES, BUT WORDS CAN NEVER HURT ME!! Grow up!!

As far as I am concerned, this is a matter of he said/she said. TR is saying he was called a name, Isaiah is saying he didn’t do it. This is ridiculous. To me, this could be as simple as a publicity stunt. ABC needs to think about the best interest of the show and how this adversly affects their ratings. Isaiah has a strong role in the show and to remove him could be a negative thing. It could also be a positive thing and a chance to introduce a new face. This is a business decision and nothing more. If Isaiah did in fact say this, we have all had our moments and we have all said things we regret. I am SURE that it will not happen again. As far as TR is concerened, I think maybe he needs to stop being so self involved…lighten up, be happy to be “out of the closet” and enjoy your career. For the sake of Grey’s, let’s move on!

There is no excuse for him. If the roles was reversed he would be crying wolf, racism and anything else! He needs to be made an example of to show that that haterid will not be tolorated from whites, blacks, gays, straits or anyone else! Not only should he be fired but black balled forever! No more movies, no more tv shows!

Get over it. Washington was actually saying to the public that he didn’t say it esp. since it was blowed the first time. T.R. himself stated on public television, Helen D. Show, (Duh!)
and admitted he is GAY!!! as well as reporting his gay sexuality to PEOPLE Magazine. How public can you get?

I really do believe that Washington should be fired. How many more times should he be allowed to open his mouth.
This was taken care of back in October and now he chooses to disgrace the cast with this obscene comment. How would he have felt if the “N” word was used. Everyone would have been up in arms and been looking for who ever said it to be fired and smeared all over the papers. This man discusts me. Once was bad enough, ok but now this, get rid of him. He has absolutely NO class. I’m sick of people going after certain comments being made but then when certain actors make this comment it seems to be ok.

This is getting more ridiculous by the moment. Isaiah made a mistake…let it go people. He spoke his mind in October, guess what “free Americans”, we all have the right to speak our minds. Even if it is politically incorrect, we are allowed to have our own thoughts and to say them. Yes, this man is on TV…so stop putting him up on a high horse. He is an actor, that does not make him a candidate for president…he acts…why take it soooooooo seriously?
I agree with those who think the equal punishment should be given to Rosie. She is a loud-mouthed ex-comedienne who thinks that because she married a lady, illegally, and put it on national tv, she is the right voice, and god forbid you think anything differently. She was a comedienne, she should have stuck with that. She has ruined the View. She seems to believe that because she is on TV she can tell us all what to beleive. She thinks that we heterosexual republicans who do not support every ideal she has are racist bigots. I am a teacher, I teach my students tolerance. I would hate to see what she is teaching her poorly raised children

How many chances does Isaiah Washington get to
apology for his dirty mouth.
OK, so his mouth goofed in October - it was forgotten. But what he said on the Golden Globes national TV - was it a goof? I doubt it.
Did he have one to many and will now go in for alcohol/drug rehab.
Didn’t I.Washington also cause a problem between himself and McDreamy few months ago??? Must be Isaiah Washington really does have mental problem! bye bye I.W.

Gee, I wonder how Isaiah Washington would have reacted if TR called him the N word? The entire black community would be screaming for ABC to fire him. Why can’t we all get along?! I’ll answer my own question, it’s IMPOSSIBLE. Their are those that live in the “spotlight” that need to keep their nose(s) clean!! Isaiah should know better but he appears to play a character not far from his REAL personality i.e. pompous, know-it-all. I’m tired of him. From Heigel’s comment “he needs to not talk in public” his co-workers are tired of him too. His character is NOT needed on Grey’s. The show will do even better without him…

Why can’t you all just let it go, everybody makes mistakes. The media keeps things hyped up by talking about it all the time. It was a bad choice of words and he has apologized so just leave it alone. I don’t think he should be fired, he needs his job just like everybody else does. If he looses his job, I surely won’t watch the show anymore.

As others have noted here, if Mr. Washington had been addressed in similar fashion, the offender would be off the show. It’s downright amusing to watch America’s self-annointed arbiters of fairness cherry pick which prejudices are forgiveable.

Maybe it is time for Isaiah to move on. He obviously has forgotten the pain of prejudice against his own people just a half century ago. It is intolerable for him to continue his rant against a minority population of American citizens.

He apologized… TWICE… for the same offense. What is WRONG with this picture?!

His comments at the Golden Globes were wholly inappropriate and offensive. It is obvious he lacks judgment in any capacity. If anyone had used the “n” word on the set of his show do you think there would be any question of that person keeping their job?

I for one will not watch the show w/o Dr.Burke, We are living in such a plastic and unforgiving society.. I teach my son who’s four to be accepting of others but at the same time I’m teaching him that not ever one will like him and people can and will be cruel, it’s just the way it is…. so what Issiah said was wrong but not hateful and not beyond fixing. He didn’t say He was going to kill him or make threats against him. I’m sure T.R. has more of a part in this matter as well. I have worked in the Fashion Industry for over 20 yrs and believe me the things I hear and the naming calling, no one loses their job. The last weeks episode with the two of them together was great acting. Please focus on the real important matters that are facing this World, and to all that want him fired think about it, Have you ever said anything you wished you could take back. When I get into a fight with my own husband I too say things I later apologize for and even in the work place I have said things esp.when I’m stressed and I have a deadline. These people are human and they spend long hours together just like married people or any other couple. Please let it go and let them work it out on their own…When I was a kid we had a saying sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me…I’m 42 and I’m a strong woman who has made in the BIG CITY and have been called a lot on the way up and you know something it makes you stronger.

How Washington behaves affects how his character “is” - his seemingly homophobic behaviors are imprinted on his character - a surgeon… it totally destroys that “character” now. It’s his own fault.. give a man enough rope and he will hang himself?
