ABC to Take Action Against Isaiah Washington

In light of the recent controversy surrounding “Grey’s Anatomy” stars T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington, ABC tells “Extra” today:

"We have had a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

I will no longer watch Gray’s Anatomy! The show is nothing without BURKE! What happened between Knight and Washington was a private matter and should have stayed that way. Washington did everything he could to rectify the situation. Uncortunately ABC would rather ruin a perfect show to satisfy people who have listened to the media’s version that was blown out of proportion rather that stand behind their employee. They need to get rid of Izzy Stephens her character drags down the show.

To Err is human, to forgive is divine.
I think Isiah has already paid the price. The cast can only heal if the press will let them be. We all make mistakes, dis engaging him will not make things better, let us help them to heal and move forward. i love them all and wouldnt want to see anyone of them go. Dr yang already has a bond with him, adjusting to a new “Dr Burk” or no “Dr burk” will affect her too. Pls let Grey’s anatomy cast be!!!!!

While I don’t condone what he said, I do not believe he should be fired simply because he called a homosexual a “fagot”. It is a slang term and can be offencive to a person whom is living a homosexual lifestyle. However It is perfectly normal for a person to show disgust against this type of perversion. The gay community needs to realise that homosexuality is an act of sexual deviance which is unaccepted my the majority. Recently the homosexual community has tried to gain public acceptance by claiming that they were born gay, therefore should be considered a “minority”. They also claim that discrimination against this unnatural lifestyle should be considered a “hate crime”. They use words such as “homophobia” and “homophobic” to describe the people whom do not agree with this act of perversion. It is never right for a person to show hate towards an other person, however most people do not hate the individual themselves, rather the unnatural and disgusting lifestyle they live. Despite the fact that most homosexuals claim they were born gay, any person of average intelligence knows this is not true. No child is born with a sexual preference or sexual desire of any kind. Every thing we do in life we do by choice. Some people choose to do what they know is wrong, while the majority choose to do what they know is right. With all the attention the homosexual community has received lately, some people seam to be forgetting that homosexuality is not the only form of sexual deviance we deal with on an every day basis. There are many forms of sexual deviance such as - incest, pedophilia, bisexuality, fornication, etc. It is not right for a person to use offencive words that may potentially hurt a persons feelings. However any person whom lives a perverted and unnatural lifestyle leaves them selves open to ridicule. Homosexuals need to know that “homosexuality” as well as other forms of sexual deviance are considered an abomination, and will never be acceptable as natural human behavior, simply because is isn’t.

Well ABC should get together and discuss this situation with T.R. Knight. If he wasn’t so adorable and loveable, Mr. Washington’s mouth could have ruined his career.

As long as this situation doesn’t affect T.R. Knight in the future as an actor I think suspension without pay is is more adequate then termination. It really should come from T.R. Knight and the rest of the cast.

You have to also think if you terminate Mr. Washington how it will affect the character “Christine”, because they have a chemistry that is so cute and funny. You don’t want to indirectly take away from another cast member as well.

I think a suspension is a better choice. That way it can bring attention to other actors to use better choices.

ABC, you did deal with this in October and a reporter reopen the wound and Mr. Washington thought it appropriate that he step upfront to answer instead of hiding behind Ms. Rhimes (in retropect he should have let it go, and the worst would have been…everyone would have called him coward) I don’t think he meant any harm but of course the media and Ms. Heigl saw fit to pursue it in a negative manner. Why don’t you and Ms. Rhimes stand up for your actor, you ABC have in the past.

Thanks shut up! (Jan.30) I agree with you. Sharmain (Jan.18)needs to get a life. “To penalize someone because of their sexual orientation is like what used to happen to us—to be penalized for something which we could do nothing [about], our ethnicity, our race.”

i think Sharmain (Jan 18) has some anger issues she/he needs to deal with. Go to a therapist not a blog. Get over yourslef while your at it, no one cares if your black, white, brown, whatever… you are in 2007, not 1979.

I don’t think that you should call people names but it happens everyday. I think that there are more important things going on in the word than name calling. l say we just forget about the whole thing and focus on more important things. This is probably not the first time T R has been called a name and I’m sure it won’t be the last. The word fagit is no different than saying gay. And that word is used on a daily basis. So if T R truely is gay then he shouldn’t mind being called a fagit.

I don’t think he should be fired at all. I believe he has the right to freedom of expression and speech just like I do and you. He obviously doesn’t feel comfortable around gay ppl bc it has not been traditionally nor originally norm of our society-being homosexual. A lot of ppl feel REALLy uncomfortable around gay ppl but we tolerate and we RESPECT everybodys choice. This societal phenomenon doesn’t mean others Have to like it and accept it. I think Mr. Isiah should stick to his guns, leave the show and wait AND TRUST on the Lord if he has this belief system. I stand behind him and the rest of the true Christians of this world -he should realize we are cheering him on. However, name calling if never ok…I think I would recommend him to aplogize for the name calling and then follow with an honest statement of your personal view on the matter and move on. God uses many ways to shed his light on those he created and loves, sometimes we are instruments for this light. Life goes on Isiah :)

You do not see T.R. going around and calling Mr. Washington the “N” word. So wise Mr. Washington up and make him leave the show ASAP. He’s already done it 2 times, does it take a 3rd…I sick of all this name calling.

For the sake of argument, let’s say that Mr. Washington can’t control how he feels. I feel strongly, however, that he should be able to control what he says. Enough, is enough…I for one think he should be fired.

Mr. Washington has stated over and over again that he did not call TR the F word. The attention that the media has given to this alleged outcry is ridiculous and as mention by others, this is a he said she said incident. When will America stop lynching our black males? If you want to hold a level of accountability, than let it includes all people and not just certain so call racial groups. However, being gay is far fetched from being black. The use of the “N” word use by Mr. Richards doing his comedy routine was disparaging and it shows how some people who condones this type of behavior has hidden it over the years. Racism is alive and the “Glass Ceiling” is and will always be a factor until we as a people come together. If you fire Mr. Washington for what he said he did not say, than what actions will you take to correct the insult that was delivered through the disparaging comments made by Rosie? Fair is only fair and if this issue is not addressed in the same manner as the Washington incident, than you are being bias against Mr. Washington, and I will no longer watch your show. If the decision to remove his character from the show is that of the network than I will not watch programs on ABC! Please make the right the right decision and let’s put this incident behind us.

Another little known fact is that if the show makes it to 100 episodes the creator (s) of the show will make about 100 million dollars. Maybe having another Black woman with big bucks is too much for Disney.
As for Rosie, I stopped watching The View the day she started working on the show.
