Original 'Dreamgirl' Diana Ross on the New Movie

The finished product is simply dazzling, but only “Extra” is taking you behind the scenes to show you the grueling rehearsals Beyoncé endured to prepare for her “Dreamgirls” role.

“Beyoncé is a performer and you can tell,” boasted renown choreographer Fatima Robinson, the woman guiding the Bootylicious star in our exclusive video, as a dressed down Beyoncé masters the moves that would eventually transform the big screen.

But the real rags to riches “Dreamgirls” story belongs to Jennifer Hudson. The Golden Globe nominee has come a long way from her upbringing in a rough Chicago neighborhood, where at 16 years old she struggled through a job at Burger King.

“I couldn’t pack the orders right, I mixed everything up, couldn’t do the register,” she dished to our A.J. Calloway. “So I was like, this isn’t for me.”

Hudson told us, “I promised myself then, I said, ‘I’m going to make my living using my talent and my gifts to make my living.’ Ever since then, I’ve been singing and now acting.”

As “Dreamgirls” gets set for its upcoming release, the original “Dreamgirl” Diana Ross is unleashing her classic sound with her first studio album in seven years.

“It’s just about good feelings, and it also has a lot of rhythm,” Ross promised. “We spent hours listening to hundreds of songs before we came up with a final list of songs.”

What’s more, the still stunning Diana is working on a book to pair with the album.

The singing legend also weighed in for the first time on the movie some say is loosely based on her life.

“I know that they've got good people involved,” she said. “There’s Beyoncé, and the names are all good. My fingers are crossed that they're saying good things, and that it's true.”

Dreamgirls” opens nationwide Christmas Day, while Diana Ross’s “I Love You” drops Jan. 16.

The album was good ,the market is different than it was 40 years ago,. no one makes songs like that anymore. If they do they will not get airplay either.
If you dont listen to what fans say about the new music … who do you listen to people who dislike the artists talent? Ok 5Ocent says Brad Paisley was a relative nobody…

After reading so many positive comments on Diana’s come back CD “I Love You” I got all excited and bought a copy. You see, I always loved Ross specially her unforgettable recordings of the 1970s.
Now, after listening to “I Love You” about 10 times, both at home and in the car, I am puzzled. Did she had to wait seven years and go through 100 songs (according to her statements)to come up with such mediocre lack-luster product? OK. I learned my lesson: NEVER pay attention to fans reviews.

The legend of THE SUPREMES will always be greater than the sum of its individual parts and Miss Ross as a solo act is just one of those parts……..a knock-off of the original trio. Diane will always be in competition with herself when she tries to take full credit for the success of THE SUPREMES. Just because her name was put out front at the end of their reign on the charts, America always loved the trio, not Diane. Everytime she pits herself against the legend of THE SUPREMES, she loses. She gets herself into trouble everytime. She will never learn that it is not now nor has it ever been just aabout HER! I really have a difficult time with her.

Diana’s “I Love You” cd is awesome. I have been playing it for weeks. Her voice is strong and beautiful. It is refreshing to hear beautiful music with strong lyrics & every word is crystal clear. I hope that it gets a lot of air play, because it is much better than anything else out here at this point. There are so many artist whose voices are less distinctive, but yet their record company push them and market their music. Let’s hope Blue Note/EMI does a better job than Motown did after her return. Hope that all of you enjoy “I Love You” as much as I have!

Just a few short weeks ago, I had the pleasure and great privilege to be front row at Ms. Ross’ outstanding Melbourne Australia concert. Ms. Ross never sounded nor looked better. Always gracious, always stunning. She is an American treasure that continues to perform and deliver at such a stratospheric level, it is difficult to identify comparable contemporaries. (Many beloved imitators, yes; but true comparable contemporaries, no.)
Congratulations are also in order: Albeit hardly acknowledged by US press, Diana Ross’ Blue album released earlier this year topped and remained on the Jazz charts for many weeks, and is Billboard’s 18th best selling Contemporary Jazz Album for 2006. Pretty darn extraordinary, but not surprising, for an artist of Ross’ unique caliber who is celebrating more that forty (40)consecutive years in the music industry.

We so look forward to Diana touring here in the US in 2007, and performing material from her new “I Love You” album. For those of us who have already had the pleasure of hearing the new album, know that a Diana Ross live rendition of “Only You”, would be MORE than worth any price of admission alone.

Diana we love and appreciate you.

US media, please give this America treasure the respect and honor she has so rightfully earned.

I am looking forward to hearing new music from the original Legend Diana Ross. I think she never gets the props she deserves, so I hope this new project is well received. It’s amazing how she still looks so good. It seems like Hollywood sort of missed out, and it would be nice to see her in movies again. Anyway, her voice is so refreshingly clear, not any of that wailing you hear normally, therefore I hope radio gives us a sample of her upcoming work.

Having been with the Supremes as a devoted fan since the early sixties I can remember all the high points of the careers of these three ladies. Yes three. Miss Florence Ballard. Miss Mary Wilson. Miss Diane Ross. People always seem to forget that if Florence had not agreed to let another member into the group as payback for a favor to one of the Temptaions who knows if there would have been Supremes or Diana Ross. There were many things that were done that hurt many people for the sake of fame and fortune. We must commend those that rode the waive and took their craft to the next level. There is no denial on that. May Florence be remembered by those that did not know her. By those that did. For she was the heart and sole of the group. A threat because of her fabulous voice and great sense of humor. Now let us see Mary,Cindy and Diana get it together and get on that stage again. Release the show from the Copa in 65, TCB, GIT and the Farwell at The Frontier Hotel on DVD. Now is the time ladies. Get it together please.

Diana Ross will always be SUPREME in my book. I had the honor of meeting her at one of her Vegas shows and she was very sweet and nothing like the way the media makes her out to be. I can’t wait for the new album and hope she tours again
