Ellen 'Honored' To Host Academy Awards

Daytime's dancing queen just landed the hottest gig in Hollywood, and "Extra's" Jon Kelley stopped by the set of Ellen's daytime talk fest to chat about her date with Oscar next February.

"It's something I always wanted to do, and I'm honored they asked me to do it," Ellen said. "To feel like someone's putting that kind of show in your hands and trusting you and saying, 'We think you're able to do this,' you can't get a bigger compliment than that."

And the compliments keep on coming.

"Today, I got flowers from Steven Spielberg saying what a smart choice that was and congratulations to the academy," Ellen revealed.

DeGeneres is no stranger to hosting awards shows. "The Emmys were definitely hard," she revealed. "But the Grammys were just fun because it's music. I want the show to be really, really funny, but I want to celebrate it. I don't want to be cynical about it."

Meanwhile, Ellen is still recuperating after being hit in a three-car wreck in Hollywood last week. "Right this minute, I'm fine," Ellen said. "But this show I did today, I really could not move my neck."

Police say a woman, suspected of drinking and driving, slammed into the back of a car, which then hit Ellen's Porsche.

"Let me just say, 'Do your drinking at home,'" Ellen said. "That's a very important message. I'm not kidding around."

I, as well as millions of other Americans who find having to watch individuals of discusting sexual persuasion on the boob tube revolting; will no doubt turn away from the Academy Awards Program after the announcement of E. D. as host. And yes, I do just turn it off! But, why should I have to after watching since the first programs started in the 50’s; because the Political Left have shoved so called “PC” down the throats of all GOD fearing, and liking it, Americans to the point we have no voice in what trash and vulgarity are presented in the name of entertainment. Thank GOD there are still programs left to watch!

Ellen is wonderful, sophisticated, funny, beautiful and has a lot of class. Yes, I’m straight. She is someone I respect because she is sure of who she is doesn’t have to shove it in people’s faces her actions speak louder than words. Not like Rosie O’ whose comes across with a chip on her shoulder and I use to like Rosie. Thank you Ellen for being the beautiful person that you are and so sophisticated. Hello! I hope your back is getting better. MIne is getting worse. I”m 21, turing 22 this August 13th.I”m 6 months pregnant, I”m due Nov 10th. I watch your show all the time. I even put my alarm on so that s I wake on time to watch your show, it gives here at 10am. I would have to say that my baby kicks the most when I watch your show. Its a dancer for sure. I watch your mothers Day show today and wow all those you gave out I wish i could go on your show, but to far away. I have a job, I”m a Personal Caregiver, I take care of a gentleman in his home and also a babysitter for 2 kids. I love what I do. Well take care of yourself.Maybe I’ll just name my girl ellen, I hope its a girl for were keeping it a surprise.

My husband is a drinker and I am so worried . he drinkes an drives. Home I sit here and worry I have tryed to talk to hem . I don’t know where to turn .
Iam so unhappy I wonder why I don’t drink or eat . But I keep my self together and try not to fall apart.

Dear Ellen, I watch you all the time and this past week with you in bed acting like you weren’t in pain made me nervious. I could see your face sometimes and the pain was right there. Take care of yourself dear. Your poor Mom must have had a fit, my name is Bette too. I live in Ma. so I know I will never be able to go and see you in person so please stay on TV for a long time. I have RA and it doesn’t get better only worst. Laughting makes me feel better, TV is my friend because I can’t get out much anymore. I think you are so cute and funny, please stay that way.

My grandson and I went to Florida for his Spring break. We went to Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios on March 31st. We spent 2 and 1/2 hours waiting in line to ride dueling dragons. The sign said the wait time was 70 minutes. When we finally got to the front of the line, they told us the blue coaster was shut down because you were taping that day. We spent $800.00 to get to Florida and another $404.00 for a flex ticket. After 8 and 1/2 hours at the park, we were able to ride 3 rides due to the taping. They also had part of Jurassic Park closed due to taping. Had we known this, we would not have gone that day. I don’t know why I’m writing this, other than to vent my frustration. Ellen,We all cannot say enough about what a wonderful job you did hosting the “Acaddemy Awards” if you were nervous you sure didn’t show it. You looked soo relaxed.We all applaud you Ellen.And your daytime show is the best. I can’t get enough of it, I don’t think anyone can. When the show starts and you come out smiling and then start dancing,that’s enough to cheer anyone up if you are down and if you aren’t, then you are on cloud 9.I love your show. “IT’S THE BEST”
