Snowboarding in the Desert

When you think of Las Vegas, you think of bright lights, gambling, warm weather and... snowboarding? That's right, snowboarding! I just hit the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort at Mt. Charleston located less than 45 minutes from The Strip, and I'm here to tell you, it's a winter wonderland in the middle of the desert! (That's actually my wife's line. But I completely agree with her... as always.)

Sweet Suites at The Palms

Isn't Las Vegas located in the middle of a desert?!?!? Well, you wouldn't have known it last weekend because IT WAS SNOWING IN SIN CITY!!! Not just one day, but two!! And not wimpy, little flakes… it was a freakin' mini-snow storm on The Strip!

Thankfully, the snow cleared out and the sun shined through for Sunday's NASCAR race here in Las Vegas. Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag, which is fitting considering he guest starred on "Las Vegas," the NBC show that just moved to Friday nights. I asked Jimmie who gets his vote as the hottest girl on the show. His answer: Nikki Cox. (Watch out Jay Mohr!) I then showed him the shot of "Las Vegas" star Molly Sims sporting the barely-there $30 million bikini in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. After careful consideration (and much analysis of Molly's photo), Jimmie stuck to his guns and told me that Nikki still gets his vote.

Jovi, James and NASCAR

First off, I just wanted to thank everyone for their e-mails last week. It took me a while, but I got around to answering all of them. A special thanks to Beatris V., Roger R. and Wanda F. for their great questions. Keep those e-mails coming! I promise that I will answer all of your Sin City questions personally. And don't forget, for anything you need to know about Vegas, "Extra" has you covered!

This last weekend, I was in Hollywood covering the Oscars for "Extra;" so, I'm extremely bummed that I missed the Rolling Stones at the MGM Grand, Styx at Mandalay Bay and Jay Leno at the Mirage.

I did get a little Vegas love on the red carpet in Hollywood, though. Kevin Zegers, who co-starred in "Transamerica" with Oscar nominated actress Felicity Huffman, told me that Las Vegas is his favorite place on Earth. Kevin just turned 21 last year, so he can now gamble and drink in Vegas (legally). He revealed that when he comes to Sin City, he likes to go old-school by staying at the Flamingo on the Strip. Kevin also said that he prefers the classic feel of Downtown Las Vegas. But Kevin did let it slip that on his next trip out here he's going to be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, so it looks like he's giving the new-school a try. We're going to hook up for a drink when he comes in, and you can read all about that right here next week!

Best Dressed: Oscar Night's Other Competition

Balenciaga, Versace, Vera Wang and Dior were just a few of the couture names flying around on the red carpet Sunday night.

And "Extra" was there to capture all of this year's red carpet runway looks! From a vintage Christian Dior clad Reese Witherspoon, who emulated old Hollywood to perfection, to Charlize Theron, who made a bold statement in her Dior couture gown, this year's red carpet did not disappoint!

Oscar presenter Nicole Kidman looked stunning in a sleek, white Balenciaga gown. She admitted to "Extra" she "squeezed into" the gown. Nicole topped her look with minimal jewelry, which was a key to this year's red carpet look.

And Oscar nominee and "North Country" star Charlize Theron made heads turn; the beautiful South African wore a slate Dior Couture gown, complete with a brimming bow on the shoulder.

The Stars Shine at the Annual Governor's Ball

The 2006 Academy Awards was a mixed bag of surprising twists with a few predictable winners. And "Extra" caught up with the golden stars at the annual Governor's Ball celebration!

The biggest upset of the night was "Crash" taking home the honor for best picture. Nominee Terrence Howard, who brought his son, told us he wasn't too surprised. "I knew it was going to be "Crash," he confessed. "It was the most important film that touched everyone's life."

Rapper Ludacris, Howard's co-star in the film "Hustle and Flow," was ready to celebrate. "I could not be happier!" he exclaimed.

Even the stunning Jessica Alba got caught up in the "Crash" excitement. "I was right next to them and they were all screaming. It was fun," she revealed.

Inside the Oscar After-Parties! Who Met Who?

The after-parties were plentiful at the culmination of Sunday night's 78th Annual Academy Awards. And at the Vanity Fair party, there were no losers as stars like Jen Aniston, Madonna, JLO and Jamie Foxx gathered for a festive celebration!

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn arrived separately but were snapped together inside. And Madonna and Guy Ritchie came arm in arm.

JLO met hubby Marc Anthony inside, and together they met the Travolta's while Jamie Foxx and Jake Gyllenhaal threw down.

The Vanity Fair party was the ultimate place to be for star sightings, where "Extra" caught Madonna chatting it up with Jon Voight and Sandra Bullock. We also found Best Actor nominee Heath Ledger laughing it up with Joaquin Phoenix.

Dress to Impress: Oscar Fashions Revealed!

Hollywood's biggest night requires quite a bit of preparations, and "Extra" is getting primped, polished and buffed with Hollywood's best as they get set for Oscar Sunday.

The first thing you need, besides a shower, is a killer coif from celebrity stylist Marc Anthony. "The hottest red carpet looks are going to be swept off the face," Anthony revealed. "Or a little slung bun or sexy pony tail. But definitely dressed up with some hot jewels."

Over at the Frederick Fekkai's Salon, it's all about sexy. "It's about really being sophisticated, sexy and elegant," Fekkai said. "And to have a look together."

For those who prefer to go this rout, Botox is also available.

Countdown to the Oscars: Couples Confidential

The highly anticipated Academy Awards are finally here, and the famous faces are hitting the pre-Oscar VIP scene.

"Extra" caught up with Best Actress nominee Charlize Theron at the Vanity Fair Amped for Africa pre-Oscar benefit, and Charlize broke news about her Oscar date: "I'm taking my mom."

So where is Theron's sexy boyfriend Stuart Townsend? Charlize told us he's filming this weekend in Canada.

The red carpet showstopper also had another confession: she has yet to decide on her Oscar dress. "It's always nerve wracking," Charlize said. "Any red carpet is always nerve wracking."

Hollywood's Big Stars Prepare for Golden Night

With less than 72 hours to go until the biggest night in Hollywood, the stars are basking in the golden light. From host Jon Stewart to Best Actress nominee Reese Witherspoon, each celebrity is soaking up the excitement in their own way.

Jon Stewart joined the set of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to sharpen his routine with a dress rehearsal. When Ellen asked what he will wear for the big night, Stewart revealed, "Tobey Maguire."

While Jon is preparing for the big laughs, Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley joined other celebs, like hotel heiress Paris Hilton, for a day of pampering. The ladies indulged in luxurious spa treatments, courtesy of the Diamond Aquifer Suite at the SoHo House.
